VISA Photo Requirements

Format of the Photo and Size
The format of the photo and size needs to be aligned with the requirement of the VISA standards. The size of the photo needs to match the standard size requirements. Otherwise, your VISA application won't pass through. The offical requirement of the VISA photo is around 35*45mm or 1.38*1.77inch size. Apart from this, the default format of the passport photo is PNG, JPG, JPEG, the standard format of the photo. The HEIC, RAW or any other compressed formats are not allowed to be used. So, make sure the format of the photo is correct. You can resize the VISA photo following these steps - 1. Go to the Visaphoto webpage. 2. Then, tap the "Choose file" option to choose the file.
3. Now, go to the location where you have the picture, select the picture and click "Open" to open the image.
4. You should be back at the Visaphoto tool.
5. Now, set the 'Select Unit:' to "Milimeters(mm)". You can set to other units such as cm, inch or px, which one you prefer.
6. Next, tap "Resize" to resize the photo.
7. Finally, tap "Download cropped image" to save the new image on your computer.

Photo Specification - Brightness
The brightnes and contrast makes a photo more exciting. But, not in the case of your VISA application. Your VISA photos can not be too bright or have excessive contrast in it. Too much brightness can disturb the whitebalance and can defect the outline of the face in the image. Same goes for the contrast in the image as well. Too high contrast and your facial details are gone, making the image unusable.

Photo size
Your face should cover 80-90% of the complete portion of the image. So, if your face is too far out or too out of the picture, it can get rejected in the due process. Facial expression and head postion
A neutral, straight-forward face is mandatory for a good VISA photo. Your headpostion should be correctly aligned, without any unnatural bend or angled exposure. Apart from the head postion, no smile or open mouth images are allowed in the VISA process. If a picture is blurred or any part of the picture is pixelated (even if it is unintentional), it is not suitable for your VISA application. Quality of the photo
Do not use an older image. The photgraphs need to recent, not more than two months old. Any unnatural alterations or edits on the main image is not accepted. Other than this, physical crease on the picture can make the part of the face illegible. So, it is also a no go condition. Use a high quality unedited image for your VISA application submission process. Even if you edit the image, do not tamper with the face too much.Eyes and Line of Sight
The eyes and line of the sight of the image should not get obstructed with the hair or anything else. Your eyes should be open normally, looking forward, straight to the camera. Rules of eyewear, headwear
No solid eyewear or headwear is allowed that may cover an imporant part of your face. If you nromally wear glasses, transparent spectacles are allowed for you to wear in the VISA photograph. But, any dark shades or reflective or any other frame covering the eyes is not a valid VISA photgraph. No headwears are allowed that can impact the facial image or overshadow the eyes or part of it. Any kinds of hats or headgears are banned. Only religious headweares that do not obstruct the view to the face is allowed.Inverted or misaligned photograph
Any inverted or misaligned phtograph will end your VISA application then and there. Both the photographs you may submit needs to be aligned properly and the orientation of the phograph is also important. 1. You can fix the inverted photo from Visaphoto. 2. Upload your image into the site. 3. Start to drag the slider in Rotate Photo (Optional) section and rotate the photo to the desired degree so that the orientation of the image does get fixed.
